Learning 5 words by Data Driven Learning methods.

 The five words are Nuisance, Obligation, Evaluation, Hazardous and Unconventional

 The method
To teach the students, I have set up some tasks which will guide the students in various stimulus process and also in learning to use the Concordance available in the internet. Let's look at a demo task pattern. For this pattern I have chosen the world "Unconventional"

Task 1: Look at the pictures down below and try to guess what part is same in all of these pictures





Task 2: Write down what you guessed.

Task 3: Take a look at the 3 sentences below and guess what the underlined word can mean.
1. Business today is all about bringing unconventional solutions to the market.
2. It is unconventional to have a wedding ceremony on a cruise ship.
3. His business methods were unconventional but successful.

Task 4: Write 3 possible synonyms (similar words) of the underlined words.

Task 5: Go to http://www.thesaurus.com , search the word Unconventional in the search box, and see if any of the words matches with answers from Task 2 and Task 4.

Task 6: Write a short definition of the word Unconventional based on the previous tasks.

Task 7: Now go to www.google.com , search for the word Unconventional and compare the definition with yours.

Task 8: Make 5 sentences on your own with the word Unconventional, and use 5 different proposition either before or after the word.

Task 9: Go to https://corpus.byu.edu/coca/ and in the search box write Unconventional and the preposition you have chosen to write. See if there's any match for it.

Task 10: If any of your preposition doesn't match, write a new sentence with new preposition and follow Task 9 again.

In my last class I was tasked to find 3 language learning blogs and write  a  short description about  each of  them.  So,  I took this opportunity to dive into the realm of internet and searched for top language learning blogs of this time.  Of course,  we are living in 2018 now, so the quantity of such blogs  is  vast in size and dynamic in quality.  So,  you can imagine it was a bit tough to find proper blogs to write about and I indeed found them. It is an android-based app which will only work on Android phones (version 4.0.3 and up) and not on Apple products. The app can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store.
